PUSHY DOG WORKSHOP:

Pre-requisite: All dogs must be friendly and quiet in the company of other dogs and humans.
Trainer: Cassidy Ingram

This three-week workshop is ideal for dogs who exhibit any or all of the following behaviors: Stealing forbidden objects, jumping on counters and tables, jumping up on people, grabbing objects/food off of the ground on walks, blowing off their owners when called, refusing to take "no" for an answer, lacking impulse control, and all other pushybehaviors. We will develop and practice the skills needed for dogs to leave things alone when asked, drop things when asked, behave calmly in the presence of exciting things, and control those pushy impulses!

This is a three week workshop. Each class lasts 60 minutes. The cost for this course is $190.

Next Class: Mondays at 8pm at AGDT 76 West 85th Street 7/8, 7/15, 7/22

FAMILY DOG TRAINING - BABIES AND TODDLERS
For families who are expecting or currently have babies and toddlers.
Age Requirement:
This class is designed for dogs over 5-months of age.
Pre-requisite: For safety reasons, all families must be pre-screened by phone to join the class.

When you have a baby, everything changes for your dog. Suddenly the humans of the household are paying far less attention to the dog. Soon the baby starts moving around, throwing food, and engaging in other interesting activities that can create chaos in a household that has both dogs and young children.  This class is designed to teach games and training strategies that will practice great manners in the presences of babies and children. Dogs will learn not to jump on the humans when holding the baby. To settle on a mat during high-chair feeding times. To avoid chomping on, clobbering, or chasing the toddler, and many other useful skills.  The humans will learn the best approach to safely deal with dogs and small children in a shared environment. Toddlers and babies are welcome and encouraged to attend, but it is necessary for both parents to be present so that at least one adult can focus their entire attention on the dog.

This course is taught by our head trainer, Amanda Gagnon, and it is strongly influenced by her 17-month-old daughter (Savannah) and her hound dog mix (Drago). :)

The course is five weeks long, each class lasts one hour, and the cost of the course is $355.

Next Class: TBD

RESCUE DOG TRAINING
Rescue Dog Training is designed for friendly, quiet dogs over 5 months who were adopted from a rescue organization or shelter.

Rescued dogs have all of the same needs as other dogs, but they are also special in many ways. Owners know little or nothing about their beautiful dog's history, and this can set the stage for miscommunication and misbehavior. In this essential class for adopted dog parents, we will go over basic manners techniques, install and upgrade important cues (such as SIT, DOWN, COME, and STAY), and solve common rescue dog behavior problems. The class also focuses on important leash training, city living, and relationship building skills that will help strengthen the relationship between human and dog.

Each class lasts 60 minutes. The cost for this course is $355.
Next Class: Mondays at 8pm at AGDT 76 West 85th Street 5/20, 6/3, 6/10, 6/17, 6/24 *skips 5/27

ANGER MANAGEMENT
For dogs who are reactive (growly, barky, or otherwise bananas) toward other dogs or humans.
Age Requirement:
This class is designed for dogs over 6-months-old.
Pre-requisite: To ensure that this is the best fit for your dog, approval by an AGDT trainer is required to take this course.

This course is for dogs who react anxiously or aggressively toward dogs or humans when they encounter them in the street. Working through this type of issue requires a lot of practice and patience. It can be especially trying in New York City, because the opportunity to practice in a controlled setting is rare, but that is precisely what your dog needs in order to make progress.

This class begins with a humans-only orientation that gives you the opportunity to learn and understand the training skills that you and your dog will need in order to overcome his/her reactivity. Following this, the class meets each week to practice calm and pleasant behavior in the presence of strange dogs and humans. You will learn and practice the skills needed to resume pleasant and safe walks with your beloved companion.  It is a slow-paced, class designed to hone your skills and overcome your dog’s emotional reaction to triggers. It is also a welcome opportunity for humans with reactive dogs to meet and draw support from a community of people who are dealing with similar issues! This course is not suitable for dogs who have done serious damage to another dog or human. For that, you should inquire about our private sessions instead.

The course is six weeks long, each class last one hour, and the cost of the course is $455.

Next class: Sundays at 5pm at AGDT (85th and Columbus) 6/2, 6/9, 6/16, 6/23, 6/30, 7/14 *skips 7/7

FUN WITH AGILITY
Age Requirement: This class is designed for dogs between 5-months and 5-years-old.

Pre-requisite: Puppy Kindergarten, Adolescent Dog Training, Rescue Dog Class OR approval from an AGDT trainer. All dogs must be friendly, quiet dogs.

Agility is an incredibly fun dog competition sport. Dogs leap over jumps, weave through poles, dash through tunnels, and so much more.  It is an awesome way to learn, bond, and have fun with your dog. In this relaxed (not competition focused) class, we introduce you and your dog to some of the basics of dog agility so you can try your hand (paw!) at the exciting obstacles safely. It is a great way to increase your dog’s confidence (and yours!) while providing exercise and mental stimulation.

Next Class: Saturdays at 12pm at AGDT 76 West 85th

TBD

DOGGY GAMES
Doggy Games is for friendly, quiet dogs who have already completed puppy school, doggy manners, or pre-screening by an AGDT trainer.

Once you have worked on foundation behaviors such as Sit, Down, Touch, Come, and Loose Leash walking, it is common to feel frustrated when these behaviors don’t work in highly distracting environments.

In this unique and fun class, you will learn and practice the skills needed to take behaviors to the next level so that they work when you really need them.  Teach your dog to STAY no matter what is happening around him.  Teach him to COME even when in the middle of playtime with another dog.  Improve your LEAVE IT cue so that it works when you are walking past chicken bones on the sidewalk.

The cost for this course is $355. It runs for 5 weeks.

Next Class: TBD
