Corporate Events
Are you a dog loving office? Is your office dog-friendly? Or do you just love dogs? AGDT Corporate Lectures are an awesome and unique way to connect your team with our expert trainers. We offer a variety of topics that can be completely customized to your interests. Head Trainer and Anthrozoologist Amanda Gagnon has lectured for top-tier companies across the country (including Google, YouTube, and Schrödinger) on topics ranging from cultural perspectives on dog-human relationships, to how to teach your dog to mind their manners at the office. Seminars or events can be conducted virtually (such as a 1-hour lunch and learn for your team), or in person.
Lecture topics include but are not limited to:
Basic Manners: Sit, Down, Stand, Stay, and Settle Down. In this workshop we’ll discuss some of the most useful cues in all of dog training. Through demonstration and on-your-feet training with your dog, we’ll learn how to install these cues, motivate your dog to offer them routinely, and how to make progress over time. We’ll also address common sticky spots when practicing these cues in the presence of distractions.
Basic Manners: Coming when called. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the importance of having a reliable recall cue, before teaching our dog the basic cues and practicing together. Through demonstration and on-your-feet training with your dog, we’ll learn how to install a recall, motivate your dog to love to come when called, and make progress over time. We will also discuss options for dealing with recall blow offs and troublesome sticky spots, like chasing prey.
Basic Manners: Leash training basics. In this workshop, we’ll go over the different types of equipment you can use to help with leash training, and what you should avoid. We will go over how to handle the leash, install basic leash cues, and how to teach your dog to have polite manners while walking. Attendees will have the opportunity to practice and receiving customized coaching so they continue to make progress going forward.
Problem Behaviors: Dealing with thieves! Stealing things off of counters, taking forbidden objects, or destroying your property.
In this workshop we will demonstrate the options for resolving these troublesome behaviors, through demonstration and hands on practice with our dogs. Amanda will answer questions and help attendees to deal with their specific problems in these areas.
Problem Behaviors: Barking! We will address request barking (Barking to get something) briefly, and discuss easy solutions for this issue. Following this, we will spend the majority of our time focusing on alert barking (barking at intruders or outside noises), which is a more difficult beast.
Problem Behaviors: Housetraining. In this workshop we will go over the options for teaching puppies how to have good potty habits from day one. This workshop is also good for people with older dogs who are new to their home. Following the presentation, there will be a Q&A to help attendees deal with their specific issues at home.
Problem Behaviors: Hyperactivity and lack of impulse control. We’ll discuss solutions for busy folks who need to provide their dog with more physical and mental stimulation and we’ll talk about ways to help your pushy, high-energy puppy learn to control some of those pushy impulses and offer calm behaviors when you need them most (especially when you are working from home).
Fun and Games: Teaching your dog fun tricks. This will be a two part series (it will meet twice). The first part will introduce the basics of teaching tricks. The second part will build on those basics to begin to learn many fun tricks to do at home with your dog. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how to teach many fun dog tricks (such as: spin, shake, crawl, and rollover).
Cool Dog Training Stuff! Toys and Products. This workshop will discuss the best products to buy for your dog and what you should avoid. We will focus on which products are the most useful, and we will spend some time talking about ways to create your own DIY versions of expensive toys and products that are on the market.
Pandemic Problem Behaviors: The new social restrictions are causing dogs to act up in ways that have dog trainers losing sleep at night. In this workshop, we will discuss the problems that are inevitable with these kinds of restrictions, how you can prevent major issues, and how you can resolve things that are troubling you now. We will especially focus on Preventing separation anxiety, Creative socialization from a distance, and Dealing with Hyperactivity.
